New District 2 Councilman Appointed
A new city council member is filling an east Jackson seat that came open with the recent resignation of Councilman Johnny Dodd. Public school teacher and Lane College instructor Willie Moore, Junior was selected to fill the seat by a 6-1 vote, Tuesday morning. Four others seeking the seat did not receive enough votes to be considered. The appointment became necessary after it was discovered that former council member Johnny Dodd failed to have his citizenship rights restored from a felony conviction. Moore, a life-long teacher said he has lived in Jackson for most of his life, wants to give back to his community and looks forward to working with people in the district on issues affecting them.
