A University of Tennessee at
Martin project to embrace diversity in the classroom
has received a big boost from the Tennessee Higher Education
Commission.
The commission awarded the
school a grant of more than $200,000 to fund the Success in
Teacher Education Project, or STEP. The effort between
UT Martin, Dyersburg State Community College and the
Lauderdale County School System aims to recruit, prepare
and retain teachers from underrepresented groups who
embrace diversity as a learning tool.
This is the sixth award THEC
has made to the Diversity in Teaching Program at UT
Martin.
