The City of Jackson is in the process of enhancing its recycling program.

According to Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist, Linnie Todd, the former Farmers Market Manager, has been appointed the City's Recycling Coordinator. Her main focus will be to establish, maintain, monitor and improve on the existing recycling program as well as to develop educational opportunities for the community.

Currently, the city has designated two recycling bins located at the fire stations on Vann Drive and Westwood. Plans are underway to provide additional recycling bins at other locations in the near future.

Mayor Gist remarked, "It is important that we become more environmentally responsible in order to conserve our natural resources. Increased recycling will reduce landfill tonnage and decrease city dumping fee expenditures."
