Leaders at one Jackson
high school said their first ever call-a-thon Wednesday
night, was a success.
Teachers at Liberty
Technology Magnet High School, which has an enrollment
of 860 students, said they were able to reach about
three-quarters of their parents.
They said getting parents
involved in the classroom will ensure their children
succeed in school.
"It's about the students.
It's about making them better," said Scott Parkhust, a
teacher at Liberty Technology Magnet High School. "It's
about getting the parents involved with their kids. It's
about, you know, when the parents are involved, the
student statistically does better, they go further in
light they do better in college."
Depending on feedback fro
Wednesday night event, leaders said they hope to hold
another call-a-thon in the future.
