Sales Tax Holiday
By: Meredith Hill

Many local shoppers packed Old Hickory Mall in search of back to school clothes and other items.  Shoppers can take advantage of the tax-free holiday Friday through Sunday.  In addition to clothing, the holiday is mostly geared towards school-related tools such as notebooks, backpacks, pens and pencils.

Items must cost $100 or less to contain no tax.

Liberty High School student Amy Nguyen got up early to stock up on her wardrobe for the school year. "All these discounts at Sears and stuff.  Now we're just looking for pants and shoes."

Those who shop in Madison county can save 10% on each item they buy.
You may want to enjoy this sales tax holiday now because it's not certain there will be another soon.

State Representative Jimmy Eldridge says he supports another one, however, due to the state's declining revenue in these tough economic times, it's possible there may not be one next year.
