Ahmad Hicks, a native of St. Louis, is an alumnus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He graduated in May 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism while minoring in radio-television and digital media.
While in school, Ahmad was a member of the university’s football team. Concluding his collegiate football career in December of 2014, Ahmad jumped right into the field of journalism, both print and television. He wrote for his school’s newspaper, the “Daily Egyptian,” which had a daily circulation of 15,000. Simultaneously, Ahmad sports anchored and multimedia backpacked for “Illinois’ Best Student-Run Newscast.”
Following school, Ahmad interned at KTVI (Fox 2 News) in St. Louis, where he gained hands-on experience, shadowing seasoned reporters and anchors. He assisted with the 9 a.m. magazine show, even producing various segments for the live broadcast.
In his free time, Ahmad loves to play with his dog, Ace, and watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
