On Saturday, October 20th, dog lovers can take to the streets for this worthy cause. “The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the plight of the many, many homeless dogs in Hardeman County and to encourage responsible pet ownership, said Cindy Hamrick, a volunteer with the organization. “Last year, more than 150 people and their dogs filled the streets of Bolivar to show their support; it’s quite a traffic-stopping sight to see hundreds of animal lovers and their four-legged companions make their way along Highway 64.”
You are encouraged to bring your LEASHED/vaccinated dog and walk. The 1-mile person/dog walk begins promptly at 10:30 AM at the vacant lot in front of Tractor Supply Company on Highway 64 in Bolivar (1361 W. Market Street) and finishes at the Hardeman County Courthouse. Participants in the march can use wagons or strollers if their pet is too small to walk the entire distance. If you cannot walk the entire distance you may join in wherever you like.
Rescue groups from everywhere are also invited to walk and carry signs to show support for their group.
The Pet Costume Contest, with beautiful prize baskets and door prizes, begins when all walkers reach the Courthouse at approximately 11:00 AM. (Your pet does not have to be in costume to walk in the March of Dogs).
