Event Description
As a nationwide push to raise heart disease awareness, February is American Heart Month and it is sponsored annually by the American Heart Association. Although heart disease strikes both men and women, heart disease in women is underappreciated by the general population, and with serious consequences. In fact, heart disease is the number one killer of women. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, one in four women die from heart disease, while one in 30 women die from breast cancer. Heart disease accounts for more deaths in women than all cancers combined. GETCHA RED ON and send photos of people, businesses, schools, etc., Going Red to kris.phifer@heart.org.
