Event Description

If skies are clear, come to Liberty Garden Park March 11 & 12 for a free public comet viewing! C/2011 L4 (PanSTARRS) is a non-periodic comet that will be visible to our area in early March, and then follow a northerly trek every evening through April. This is the first of two comets that will be viewable to the unaided eye in 2013. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather... and bring your questions and curiosity, too! (Skies must be cloudless for these events.)
Liberty Garden Park & Arboretum permits Forked Deer Astronomy to use the natural backdrop of a comet for a free-to-the-public astronomy program. Using telescopes and binoculars, this outdoor event is an introductory to the hobby of amateur astronomy, and a resource to learn about the unique phenomena that occur in our solar system. This event requires clear skies, so please check the forecast for Jackson, TN before attending.
