Event Description

Joe is the son of Dennis and Angie (Nurse @ East Wood Clinic) Vaughn. Joe is 18 years old and just graduated Henry County High School. His dreams were to join the Air Force. While doing MEPS for the Air Force enrollment, the Dr’s heard what they thought was a heart murmur. After further testing, Dr’s have found a 2” hole in his heart. He also has other damage to his heart because of this hole. Further testing is being done to find a plan of action. They already know open heart surgery is a must and will hopefully be done before the end of this month. This puts Joe’s dreams of being in the Air Force out of the picture.

Joe has had zero symptoms of anything being wrong with him and even now you wouldn’t know by looking at him. Because he was joining the military and because he has never had any health issues (that they knew of) the insurance coverage taken out on him was the most inexpensive to get, BUT it has a $10,000 co-pay, plus he and his family will have to pay the 20% of everything after that.

The Bake/Craft/Yard Sale will be Saturday, July 26th at Lakeway IGA, where Joe works. We are asking for donated items to be dropped off Friday, the 25th, at East Wood Clinic from 8am to 5pm or Tattle Tale’s Day Care which is in the building of Shady Grove Auto Salvage from 6:30am till 5pm. Please put a tag on Baked Items with name of item, and please no perishable items since it will probably be hot! As for craft items, lots of people have talents and any items are greatly appreciated. On the yard sale items, we will be glad to take items for that but do ask that no clothes be brought. For any businesses who would like to donate items or gift certificates to sell those would be greatly appreciated also. Please help this young man and his family by contributing in any way you can. Monetary Donations will gladly be accepted as well at Commercial Bank and Trust Company in a special account set up there or by giving to either Joe, his mom Angie, Dennis, or Gina Braham.

Thank you in advance for your help. Let’s help out a young man whose dream was to help us by defending our country. He didn’t get to live his dream of the Air Force but we can still show him our support. Please donate, and also come out on the 26th and buy up a bunch of goodies!!! Hope to see you there!
