WLJT and Discovery Park Writer’s Contest Announced

WLJT will be hosting a Writers and Illustrators contest starting January 1, 2017 and ending with the announcement of the winner which will be around May 19, 2017. No purchase or donations are necessary to enter or win. This contest is sponsored by WLJT, public television station located in Martin, TN., and presented in partnership with Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN.
Participants of this contest must be children in 4th or 5th grade who have a passion for writing. Stories can be fact or fiction, and prose or poetry with only one author per story. One entry is allowed per person; any multiple entries will be disqualified.
These entries must be delivered to the WLJT station or postmarked by March 31, 2017 to be eligible for this competition. Stories must have a minimum of 100 words with 500 words being the maximum. Stories must be printed or legibly written or typed. Each story should include at least five original, clear and colorful illustrations. This can include drawings, collages, and 3-D images created by the author. There may also be photographs included that have been taken by the author.
Each entry must include the official WLJT Contest Entry Form with the required signature of a parent/guardian. There will be first and second place winners from both 4th and 5th grade. They will receive a one-year membership to the Discovery Park of America or, if already a member, they will receive a gift card.
