Educator of the Week - Campbell
Trenton Elementary School first grade teacher Rose Campbell loves how quickly her young students absorb new material.
"They're just learning to read," said Campbell. "The excitement is there and when they do realize they can read or they have something. They get excited."
It is not only exciting for them.
"I think that the child knows and we know," said Campbell. "So it's just a moment that you have together, and there's not another feeling like that."
Campbell said a big part of the curriculum is keeping her kids moving.
"You have to keep the little ones active, because if you don't, they're going to be active! So if you can control the activity in a controlled situation, it's going to be a lot better," said Campbell. "We always say if you can't beat them, join them. You just kind of have to go with the flow. And they love it, and it's fun for the teacher, also."
It is also fun for this educator to teach academics as well as classroom comradery.
"Just a feeling of family and knowing that we've been a part of a group and taking care of each other, and coming away with character," said Campbell. "I do think teaching is a calling. I don't feel like I chose to teach. I feel like I was called to teach."
