Stigall Primary School kindergarten teacher Brandi Martz may only be a third-year teacher, but says her career choice has been a long time in the making.
"When I was little, I always played school. That's something I always wanted to do," said Martz. "I worked at other places and I thought, 'Oh, maybe I want to do this, maybe I want to do that.' But teaching was my calling - I love working with kids."
Martz's kids love working with her, especially when it involves their voices.
"We sing," said Martz. "Anything that involves singing, they love to sing. It could be the alphabet singing or it could be a math problem singing. If it involves singing, they remember everything."
This educator wants her young students to succeed in everything.
"I sent home a sheet wanting to know what they wanted to do when they went to college," said Martz. "All of them had different colleges they wanted to go to. Some wanted to go to Harvard, some wanted to go to Yale. And I know if they keep on doing what they're doing now, they can go wherever they want to."
Martz said she is confident they will go far.
"One of our sayings in here is, 'Never say I can't - always say you can,'" says Martz. "You can do anything you set your mind to."
