Local Church Host Easter Egg Drop

Jordan Hall

JACKSON, Tenn. -- It's not your typical way of getting Easter candy, but at one local church it rained sweets Sunday.

Lighthouse Church of Jackson said 3-year tradition started accidentally when the weather was bad one Easter.

Pastors say the rain caused them to pass out candy indoors and throw it from above. The kids loved it so much they now just do it every year, and the kids don't complain.

Ministers said it's a great outreach event for the church.

"A lot of folks go to church for the first time on Easter and here we want to do something great for our kids and our families," said Outreach Pastor Dock Ivy.

The church says it was a great success with over 350 people today celebrating the Easter holiday.
