Neighbors Talk About Car Fire Victim
JACKSON, Tenn. -- When neighbors heard about the death of 25 year-old Taleisha Souter on Sunday, they couldn't believe the news.
"It's very sad. It's tragic, and I'm just sorry for whoever she has left behind," said neighbor Ashanta Twiddy.
Neighbors say the young victim had two children.
"Especially with the two little young ones that she had, it's just sad. It's a tragedy." said Twiddy.
Neighbors say they used to see Souter with her children outside of her residence. Although she was quiet, they say she was a good neighbor. Hearing the news, they say the community is at a loss.
"It tore me up inside. I didn't know her but a person shouldn't die like that. You shouldn't live your last minutes like that," said Pearlie Evans who also lives in the area.
Souter was the victim of an early morning car fire in East Jackson. Police say she was driving with her boyfriend who had an open container of gas in his lap. Souter lit a cigarette, igniting the car into flames. Souter died on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
