WHITEVILLE, Tenn. -- The family of the teen shot in the head tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness news the victim is at home recovering, Sunday.

The Whiteville Police Department says 19-year-old Alunta Giles was shot in Whiteville around 11:30 Friday night near Boyd Street.

"We don't know for sure who it is. Right now there's no face, there's nobody talking right now," Ikeem Giles said, the victim's brother.

Ikeem said he was with his brother, Alunta, and a friend. They were coming home from a gas station late Friday night when they noticed a suspicious white Crown Victoria with Mississippi tags following them down the road. He explained that the next thing he knew, his brother had been shot in the head.

"Sooner or later somebody is gonna have to step up," Ikeem said. "It may not be the police, but it's gonna be taken care of one way or another."

Alunta is in critical but stable condition at The Med in Memphis.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Whiteville Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
