People with breast or colon cancer can take a simple step that may help improve their chances of a long life.
That step Ð which can involve many steps, to be precise is exercise.
In a new study from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, researchers dug deep into the medical literature to find studies linking physical activity and survival after cancer.
Twenty-seven studies showed evidence that people who get more physical activity tend to be less likely to die from breast cancer or colon cancer, or to die in general.
As the lead researcher told HealthDay, cancer is often considered to be a chronic disease nowadays. That means many people who survive cancer could later be affected by other conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Physical activity can help ward off these conditions.
