Accused Intruder Stabbed in Darden
HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn.- Henderson County deputies are investigating the stabbing of an alleged intruder
Investigator Tracey Grisham with the Henderson County Sheriff's Department told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that the intruder was stabbed in the abdomen by a woman during a physical altercation after entering the home through a window.
"They say this man comes to the house, knocks on their door. they don't answer, they are home but they don't answer and then he goes around the other end of the house and comes through a window," said Investigator Tracey Grisham. "He picks up a stick of wood, some kind of wood and a fight takes place between the two males."
According to the report, a female staying there told authorities that the intruder threatened to kill her, then cut her on the forearm with a piece of glass from the broken window.
"Their statement and they believe that he was trying to come in to either harm them or steal something," said Grisham.
Grisham said this case is unusual because the suspect knew the homeowners. The alleged intruder told authorities that he had been invited to the home and only entered to check on the homeowners because they were not answering the front door. Officials said no charges have been filed due to the allegations from both parties, but the investigation is ongoing.
"There are some things we still have to look at and I know that sounds funny but there are certain circumstances we are having to review," said Grisham. " Charges will be filed sometime."
Investigators said even though the alleged intruder had a large puncture wound to the right side of his abdomen and the female involved sustained a large cut to her forearm, both parties refused medical treatment,
"I'd rather have them be for sure then not sure even though something is said because you're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty," said neighbor Anthony Courtright.
