JACKSON, Tenn. - After years of waiting, Alexander Elementary students finally have a new playground to enjoy. Thursday afternoor, students, staff and supporters cut the ribbon on the play area.

The playground was paid for using mainly money earned from recycling, which took many years. Randy Taylor was honored at the event for his countless hours collecting items and recycling which equaled thousands of dollars for the new playground.

Sheri Hopper said the children have been anxiously waiting for the playground. "It makes me teary to talk about [the playground] because it means the world to our kids, it really does."

Employees of Alexander Elementary School said raiding money for the playground not only taught children about recycling but also about working together.
