Arrest Made In Dead Dog Case
HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. - Henry County Animal lovers want justice for the three puppies left outside to die in below freezing temperatures earlier this week.
"Something needs to be done to 'em whoever did that," said dog lover, Mary Fleming.
Henry County investigators arrested Joe Paul Hayes, 21, of Paris for cruelty to animals. Investigators said an anonymous tip called into the sheriff's office lead to his arrest.
"From that, we were able to turn it over to our investigators and they were able to follow up on the leads that lead us to Mr. Hayes," said Captain Damon Lowe.
Lowe said Hayes has not admitted to leaving the pit bull puppies along Briarpatch Road. They were found Tuesday after the sheriff's department received a call about the puppies found piled in an yellow plastic bucket.
It is unclear if the dogs died from the cold or lack of food.
