Assistant Football Coach Charged with Solicitation of a Minor
JACKSON, Tenn. – A Jackson man is jailed accused of trying to get a 15-year-old girl to meet him for sex.
According to Jackson police, Anthony Carville Anderson, 25, is charged with solicitation of a minor. He appeared in court Friday morning where bond was set at $40,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 2.
Jackson-Madison County School Superintendent Buddy White confirmed Anderson is a paid assistant football coach at Jackson-Central Merry High School. He has been suspended without pay during the investigation.
Police allege that Anderson tried to get the minor to send him nude photographs and engage in sexual activity. "He sent a picture of himself shirtless and he wanted the same in return," said Lt. Tyreece Miller, of the Jackson Police Department.
Investigators said they began their investigation on Tuesday when Anderson reportedly initiated contact with an online profile. During the communication, which was over the Internet and cell phone text messages, authorities believe Anderson thought he was talking to a 15-year-old Jackson girl when he was actually communicating with a Jackson police investigator assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
When Anderson solicited the minor to send nude photos and meet him for sex, police made the arrest.
Police said they seized Anderson's computer from his Jackson apartment Thursday evening to search for additional evidence. "Our number one goal is to find out is there anyone else who he could have had contact with," Miller said.
