Attempted Abduction Reported in Dyersburg

DYERSBURG, Tenn. - Dyersburg Police are on the lookout for a person who reportedly tried to abduct a child, Thursday morning.

According to investigators, an 11-year-old girl was walking to the school bus stop on Schaffer Street when a man reportedly approached her from behind and tried to pull her towards a vacant house.

The child struggled with the man and was able to break free and run away.

Police said the man was described as wearing a dark color fleece jacket and latex gloves.

Area law enforcement officers spent several hours interviewing people nearby when the incident occurred. They also had additional officers on the street as students got off buses at the end of the school day.
