Author Talks about Help for Troops with Mental Illness
JACKSON, Tenn.- A former Navy psychologist was in West Tennessee Thursday to talk about what can be done to help our troops with mental illness. Heidi Kraft was the guest speaker at Union University at a luncheon hosted by the school of social work. She spoke about her own experience with post-traumatic stress disorder which inspired her memoir, "Rule Number 2". Kraft said she wants military families to know it is ok if someone in their family is dealing with mental illness. "Every one of us in our great country have the ability to say to a combat veteran, 'It's ok.' If you're not ok and each of us should take that especially around Veterans Day as our personal responsibility," said Dr. Heidi Kraft Proceeds from Kraft's book with help treat members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.
