One Dead and Four Injured in Benton County Wreck

BENTON CO., Tenn. -- The Benton County Coroner has confirmed one person is dead after a two-car crash on Highway 70.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened on Friday around 7:45 near the landfill in Camden.

Belinda Quinn lives on Highway 70 near the scene of the crash. She said she knew something was wrong when she heard a loud boom.

"I heard the crash noise and knew that it wasn't good," Quinn said. "We went outside and could see police cars and bodies lying in the road."

Two cars collided head-on. The deceased driver has been identified as an elderly man from Weakley County. There was also an elderly woman in the car with him.

The other car involved contained a man, woman and a child.

Ambulances and four AirEvac were on the scene to take those that are injured to Nashville.

THP is still investigating the crash. So far no names have been released. We will keep you updated as more information is given.
