SOUTH FULTON, Tenn.- A normal day at the First State Bank in South Fulton turned frightening when a man wearing a mask walked in and demanded money. Residents who live in the area said they are not surprised.

"Very Unsafe. It's just not as safe around here as it used to be and it's just scary," Steven Crocker said.

Jamie Rhodes uses the bank and said the robbery does not surprise him as well. "It's just a small town and things happen in a small town, because people do it once, and they see that they can get away with it several times," he said.

Officials said a man around 6 feet tall, 55-65 years old and weighing 170 pounds walked in the front door wearing a mask. The suspect was wearing dark jeans and a dark hoodie. Eyewitness said he left the area in a maroon Chevrolet Blazer.

Residents who live near the area said the shopping center has been hit numerous times in the past few years. "This same bank, I don't know how much they got away with [last time] but it was an armed robbery just a year ago," Crocker said.

Police are not disclosing how much money was taken but said the suspect is still on the run.

"I hope that something can be done. I know law enforcement is gonna do as much as they can," Crocker said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the South Fulton Police Department at (731) 479-1311.
