BOLIVAR, Tenn.- A former Memphis Tiger and local basketball star said he is teaching kids the fundamentals of life, using his favorite sport.

Willie Kemp is playing professional basketball in Europe, but came back to his hometown of Bolivar for his second annual basketball camp. The camp tipped-off Tuesday with more than 100 participants.

Kemp, who teamed up with Bolivar Middle School Coach Demetris Beaugard said kids are being taught the fundamentals of basketball in the camp while also learning skills to use both on and off the court.

"I wanted to come back and give back to the Bolivar community and to the kids because there is no one here doing that so this is for the kids," said Willie Kemp, former Memphis Tiger.

Kemp said other professional players and coaches are scheduled to come out and mentor to the kids before the camp ends on Friday.
