JACKSON, Tenn.- Former and current Bemis residents are inviting you to their community for a weekend of fun.

Bemis Heritage Days started Friday evening as Bemis supporters from across the area came to celebrate.

The Bemis Historical Society is selling Bar-b-Que plates with the funds to go toward the Bemis Museum. Members of the society said it is nice to be back home.

"When we grew up in Bemis, it was kind of like Mayberry, it was just a nice place to live and one guy said I hope heaven's a whole lot like Bemis," said Joel Jackson, chairman of the Bemis Historical Society.

Bemis Heritage Days continues Saturday starting at 9 a.m, where coordinators say they will have more food, a bus tour of the community and entertainment. Saturday's events will end at 2 p.m.
