Bethel Springs Couple gets New Roof Donated
MCNAIRY COUNTY Tenn.- A couple in Bethel Springs with no homeowners insurance is getting a new roof donated to them, after last Wednesday's strong storms damaged their home.
Mary Jo Maness was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year, and was first told she only had two weeks to live.
"I didn't thing she was going to make it," said her son, Jackie Maness.
Mary Jo said when she got sick she had to drop their home owner's policy in order to get medical insurance.
Last Wednesday when strong winds damaged the family's roof, they told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness news they had no idea how they would pay for it, but they would not let the problem get them down.
"There is a lot of things that could be worse. We are still here," said Mary.
A representative for the First Baptist Church of Bethel Springs said the family touched their heart, and they are happy to help out the couple.
"These people are just wonderful. We did not ask for help they came to us, and they are just angels sent from God," said Mary.
The volunteers will start installing the new roof on Saturday and hope to have it finished by the end of the weekend.
