Black History Month Celebrated at Tigrett Middle School

JACKSON, Tenn.- Students, staff and workers at a West Jackson School took time to celebrate Black History month.

The 500 students of Tigrett Middle School spent three weeks studying, preparing and getting ready for Friday's event.

The student sang, danced and spoke about famous Black Americans. Students said they enjoyed the lesson in living history.

"I think it is important for people, especially the African American culture to know about their culture and background, said Eren Brooks, a 7th grader at Tigrett Middle School.

Such programs are held annually at the West Jackson School..
