Brownsville Police Involved in Shooting & Standoff
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. - An afternoon shooting leads to a standoff between a man and Brownsville police. Officials say he was eventually airlifted after being injured in a shoot out.
The standoff lasted for at least four hours. Around 7 p.m., members of the SWAT team stormed the home on Ferrell Street, where they found the suspect injured. Officials say he was airlifted from the local hospital to the MED.
Officials on the scene said it all started around 3 p.m. when they started getting calls about a man waving a shotgun out a window. Officers and SWAT members responded. Officials said officers returned fire after the suspect began shooting. No officers were injured.
After the exchange, the man stayed barricaded inside his home for a few more hours before officers forced their way in. Officers said they found no one else in the home.
