TRENTON, Tenn. - Officials at the Gibson County Jail confirmed Thursday morning that Cody Ryan Buchanan, 20, of Humboldt, will spend Thanksgiving Day behind bars. Late Wednesday, his bond was set at $100,000.
Buchanan is believed to have stolen a vehicle from his neighbor. While driving it along Highway 187, Troopers believe, he side-swiped another vehicle then crashed into a home near the intersection of Highway 76. One of three women inside the home was killed.
Records show Buchanan is charged with reckless homicide, DUI second offense and leaving the scene of an accident with injury. Officers said if blood tests show he was intoxicated, more serious charges could be added. It could take some time before those results are back.
