JACKSON, Tenn.- The superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools was honored Thursday as teachers, students and community leaders attend a reception in his honor.

The central office on North Parkway has been busy as
well-wishers stopped by to wish Buddy White the best in retirement.
White assumed the top spot of the school district, first as interim superintendent at the end of the 2011 school year.

White has held several positions in his 33-year career, from classroom teacher to director of operations, the position he held before taking over as superintendent.

"Monday, we're going to pick apples and make an apple pie. I think I just told someone we have a grandson that'll be with us Monday and he'll need an apple pie. So that's where we'll start," said retiring superintendent Buddy White.

White said he looks forward to slowing down a bit and enjoying time with his family.
