JACKSON, Tenn. – The former Henderson County Sheriff returned to Jackson City Court accused of trying to kill is estranged wife at a local bar.

Ricky Lunsford, who is also a former Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy, had his preliminary hearing Thursday. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault and four counts of reckless endangerment.

One witness testified he saw Lunsford approach his wife putting a pistol to her side and Tap Bar and Grill and forced her to go outside.
“I seen a pistol in her, in her mid section and he had pulled her up close to him. And I said 'gun' and then out the door they went,” said Shane Robison.

Once in the parking lot Lunsford's wife says he threatened to kill her, and she broke away and started running. That's when Lunsford allegedly began shooting. Witnesses say at least ten rounds were fired.

“He was tracing all the way around. When she was running he was following her with the gun shooting." said Robison.

All of the charges against Lunsford were bound over to the Madison County Grand Jury.
