Casey Jones Day will be held at the home and railroad museum all day at Casey Jones Village.
There will be free guided tours of the museum and historian and descendants of Casey Jones will be present to discuss his life and career.
Casey Jones’ granddaughter, Nancy Howse, 91, will be at the event from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also, children dressed as Jones will be eligible to win prizes.
Casey Jones became a folk hero in 1900, when he tried to stop his Illinois Central passenger train before it hit a stalled freight train in Vaughan, Mississippi. He died, but the others on his train survived.
