JACKSON, Tenn.- A sad update on the cat rescued by Jackson firefighters Tuesday in downtown Jackson.

The salon owner who helped care for the cat said the animal passed away peacefully after arriving at the vet. She said the vet believes, due to its condition, it was likely a stray.

The cat is believed to have been stuck in the pipe for two days and had developed pneumonia and hypothermia.
