Child Charged with Burglary
LEXINGTON, Tenn.-The child who allegedly brought a knife to school last week is even more trouble, and even more children are believed to be tied in with the incident.
Henderson County officials arrested the 11-year-old over the weekend, not for bringing the knife to school, but for breaking into a home while he was on suspension from Westover Elementary.
He has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property.
Officials are still determining what to charge him with for bringing the weapon to school.
Five other children could also be charged after revealing to investigators they were starting a gang at school, calling themselves The Laughing Reapers. They told officials the child that brought the knife to school was their leader.
"He's not a bad kid. We all make mistakes and all make bad decisions sometimes. An 11-year-old will make some really bad decisions from time to time," said Captain Tracey Grisham of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department.
Grisham told 7 Eyewitness News the child could be charged with a felony, which would not be removed from his record when he turns 18.
