Child Seriously Injured By Lawn Mower
Remington Triplett, 4, is recovering from a terrible lawn mower accident. Recently the boy came running out from behind a tree and surprised his father.
"He hit him with the lawn mower and ran him over and he was underneath the mower when me husband managed to get it stopped," said his mother Michelle Triplett.
Remington was driven to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital then he was flown to LeBonheur in Memphis.
He was in the hospital for two weeks with several injuries including a broken tibia, ligament, muscle and bone damage to his ankle and foot. He also had pins inserted into his ankle and toes were broken.
"I fall, daddy, huh, I fall," said Remington Tripplett.
Michelle and her husband, Erik have been married for 17 years. Five years ago they moved to Friendship from Illinois to be closer to Michelle's mother.
"First few days all he could say was, 'I ran over my son.' Every day he gets a little bit better with it," Michelle Triplett said. on top of that, Erik has stage four colon cancer.
"I'm doing what I have to do for my family, taking it one day at a time," said Michelle Triplett. She said Remington has been a strong boy, not complaining about the pain and many visits to the hospital in Memphis.
"Mainly the prayers, you know that's what I surely appreciate just prayers," Michelle Triplett said.
This Friday at 5 p.m. the community of Friendship will hold a fish fry to help with the medical bills for the family.
The fish fry will be held at the Old Friendship Market on Main Street.
