Cocaine Arrests in Union City

Tuesday evening, Special Agent Scott Watkins with the Union City Police Department and the 27th Judicial Drug Task Force, made two drug related arrests outside the Raceway convenience store on the corner of Stad Ave. and W. Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.

Agent Watkins said he first stopped LaQuisha Brady, 20, of Hayti, Mo. for speeding and not wearing her seat belt. While talking with Brady, Agent Watkins said the male passenger in her vehicle got out and started running.

Later identified as Kanawa Borders, 34, of Hayti, Mo., was quickly arrested after trying to dispose of a plastic bag. Officers determined the bag contained 13 ounces of cocaine with an estimated value of $13,000.

Borders has been charged with evading arrest, tampering with evident and possession of Schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute.

Brady has been charged with facilitation to the sale or distribution of Schedule II and possession of Schedule II with intent to sell or distribute.

Both are currently being held in the Obion County Jail until their arraignment in General Sessions Court on Thursday at 1 p.m.
