Tuesday's Madison County Commission meeting heated up after Commissioner Jerrry Batin asked for a public admonishment of Sheriff David Woolfork.

Bastin asked his fellow commissioners to issue an admonishment in writing for the firing of former Assistant Chief Deputy Butch Mitchell in 2005, and said the sheriff did not follow due process.

The sheriff denied the claim, citing hearings and court proceedings.

"We just decided that the commission was not going to have any further talks and then the sheriff talks about it. What is up with that?,"
said Jerry Bastin, a Madison County Commissioner.

"I got permission, Jerry. You need to get over whatever feelings you have,"said Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork.

Bastin ran against Sheriff Woolfork in 1994. He also asked the commission to do away with the county Civil Service Commission and instead use the state's Civil Service Commission in Nashville.

The commission tabled both of Bastin's requests.
