Convenience Stores Burglarized for their ATMs

By news@wbbjtv.com

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Jackson police are investigating break-ins at two convenience stores that may be connected.

According to the Sheriff David Woolfork, deputies received an alarm call at Minors Food Mart on Law Road around 3:20 a.m., Friday.

Investigators found that the front door had been forced open and the ATM was missing from the business. Officials reported that surveillance video showed that an older model pickup truck backed up to the front door. Two people are reportedly seen in the video breaking the glass out of the door, entering the building, pulling the ATM outside into the truck and driving away.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an older model General Motors full-size dually pickup truck. The vehicle is dark in color and has large “stack-style” exhaust on both sides of the truck behind the cab. It also has metal construction type tool boxes on both sides of the truck bed.

Jackson police said they were called to the Horizon on Ridgecrest Road at 4:14 a.m. when the store’s alarm began to sound.

Police said the robbers tore out part of the front of the business while trying to get the ATM out of the store.

Investigators with the Jackson Police Department said they believe the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff’s Department (731.423.6000), Jackson Police Department (731.425.8400) or Crime Stoppers (731.424.8477).
