JACKSON, Tenn.-There may soon be a new parking lot on the way to the downtown Jackson area.
According to city leaders, at next week's meeting council members will consider approving a new parking lot to be used by workers at the Tennessee State Office building.
The state will build and maintain the lot which will be leased from the city for $1a year, for 20 years. The location will be on the front lawn of the police department building and officers will be allowed to use parking spaces closest to their facility.
Leaders said the need for the lot arose following a recent expansion of the state building that took up some of the state's existing parking spaces.
