County Files Public Nuisance Action Against Poise Lounge
UPDATE: On Friday, April 19, 2013 Chancellor James F. Butler issued a temporary injunction ordering the Poise club also known as the UpNorth club be padlocked. A hearing has been scheduled for April 26th at 2:00pm in Madison County Chancery Court.
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn-From shootings to fights, Madison County Deputies are trying to shut down a local night club known for attracting trouble.
On Tuesday, Madison County filed a nuisance petition against Poise Lounge, also known as the UpNorth Club. According to Madison County Sheriff, David Woolfork, since last October they've investigated almost 30 incidents that include shots fired, aggravated assault, and selling alcohol to minors.
Woolfork said they're going after the club now, to prevent trouble in the future.
"We're being proactive," said Sheriff Woolfork. "Because we know what type of people frequent the club, like gang members; and based on the amount of calls we get."
According to Woolfork, the club can remain open until the court states otherwise. No court date has been set.
