Crashed Tanker to be Removed Friday; Delays Expected

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to remove the burned out tanker that crashed along Interstate 40 on Friday. TDOT is asking drivers to expect delays during the removal, which is expected to take hours.

Tuesday evening, the tanker ran off the road on the eastbound side of I-40 in Henderson County near mile maker 112. It came to a stop in a line of trees and burst into flames.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed the driver, William Shamblin of West Virginia died in the crash.

Neither the cause of the wreck nor the cause of Shamblin's death have been released.
