Jackson, Tenn. - The steamy and dry weather will continue through the weekend and result in triple digit temperatures along with heat indicies over 105 degrees.

A heat advisory is in effect for West Tennessee and Northeast Mississippi until 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

If you must work outside, plan to take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water
and dress in light-weight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Otherwise, reschedule any outdoor work activities to early morning or early evening.

When possible, stay in an air conditioned environment. Check on relatives and neighbors and make sure pets have adequate shade and access to water.

Never leave children or pets unattended in a locked vehicle. Even with the windows down slightly, temperatures inside a car can become suffocating when exposed to direct sunlight for a short period of time.

Remember, Beat the Heat, Check the Back Seat!
