PARIS, Tenn. – The death of a 10-year-old child in Paris is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to a TBI spokesperson, investigators are looking into the death of Teaisa Sommerville who was reportedly found unresponsive in an apartment on Dunlap Street in Paris on July 9. The incident was originally reported by her caregiver to the Paris Police Department and Henry County EMS and the victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Neighbors told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the young girl was always happy, and seemed like a healthy 10-year-old.

"It strikes you hard when you see her one day out there riding her bike, and the next day you are watching them roll her out in an ambulance," said neighbor Lisa Santiago.

Investigators said they do know that she had been treated at a local medical facility the day before her death occurred. They did not reveal the reason for the treatment.

Neighbors told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the girl was in foster care, and they believe there was a mix up in her medication.

"She was always happy," said Santiago. "We never saw anything strange or unusual. She was always happy!"

The District Attorney General asked the TBI to investigate Sommerville's sudden death. Investigators saID an autopsy is being conducted to determine the official cause of death.
