Drug Offenders Arrested in Warrant Round-Up
DECATUR CO. Tenn.- More than a dozen drug offenders were arrested in Decatur County on Friday morning in a county-wide warrant round up.
Sheriff Roy Wyatt tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News this operation took a year to plan, and nearly every deputy was on the streets working along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Drug Task Force.
"This has been a very great concern of mine since I've been sheriff, the drug problem here in this county" Wyatt said.
According to deputies, drug abuse has grown out of control in the county, and they are seeing more prescription drug abuse.
"This is the way we can combat drug use and we do our best to keep it out of the hands of our young people," Wyatt said.
Decatur County residents tell us they worry about how drugs are affecting youth in the county.
"I am very appreciative of everything law enforcement does to try and help the kids of our country," concerned Decaturville resident, Dawn Scott said.
So far the sheriff's office has made 14 arrests all on various drug related charges.
