Deputies Chase Burglary Suspects

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. - The Madison County Sheriff's Department is searching for two men who are suspects in home burglaries.

According to investigators, deputies pulled over a red sedan, at the intersection of Beech Bluff Road and Mifflin Road, around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday. That vehicle matched the description of a reported suspicious vehicle on Deep Gap Road.

After the car was pulled over in an abandoned bank parking lot, deputies reported the two men inside jumped out of the car. One of the men was armed with a handgun. When Captain Anthony Heavner, who was one of the deputies that stopped the vehicle, pointed his weapon at the suspect, the suspect dropped his weapon on the ground and the pair ran into nearby woods.

Deputies were seen taking several bags full of items out of the vehicle. They also removed a flat screen television from the car. Investigators believe the items were stolen from a home in the 900 block of Mifflin Road.

One suspect was taken into custody. Authorities are still searching the nearby area for the second suspect both on the ground and via helicopter.
