Diesel Spill Shuts Down Old Hickory Extended

JACKSON, Tenn.- A large fuel spill in the northern part of the city that caused some major problems for those driving along a busy north Jackson street.
Jackson city street crews worked to clean up the diesel spill along Old Hickory Boulevard Extended. Police and city crews shut down the east bound lanes around 7 a.m. and began dumping sand on the street.
Fire officials said they believe a truck began leaking fuel along North Highland before turning onto Old Hickory Boulevard.
The trail of diesel fuel contained along North Parkway headed east until fire crews lost it around Jackson State Community College.
Old Hickory Extended was re-opened just after 9 a.m.
