Dog Pageant Raises Money for Local Breast Cancer Patient

JACKSON, Tenn. - Pet owners and their furry friends were out in Conger Park Sunday afternoon to raise money for a Jackson resident suffering from breast cancer.

Cara Hickerson is suffering from Triple Negative Breast Cancer, an aggressive form. Hickerson is currently undergoing the first of 12 treatments.

Money raised from Sunday's "Doggie Halloween Pageant" will go toward helping the Hickerson family.

"We thought it would be a fun event to get children and animal lovers together to donate money for the cause for Cara," said organizer Mary Hayes.

A 5K run will also be held on November 17 on North Parkway to raise money for Cara.
