JACKSON, Tenn. - Jackson Police are investigating the shooting of two different males in the eastern portion of the city late Saturday afternoon.

Police said they got a call about shots fired in the area of 33 Carver Avenue around 3:45 p.m.

According to police, one of the shooting victims, a 17-year-old male, is in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his stomach, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

They said the other victim is Gary Morris, 22, who has already been released from the hospital, but taken into custody for lying to police.

Police said he initially told them he was shot by someone while walking near Dupree and Whitehall Streets.

But investigators said they later learned Morris accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Morris will be arraigned in Jackson City Court Monday morning on a charge of filing a false police report.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two shootings are connected.
